Artist Statement
I like the way the sky looks late in the day. Sometimes, there’s a bright shaft of sunlight contrasted by a dark Payne’s grey sky and the seagulls become stark yellow as they fly by. It’s magical.
I am enamoured with colour. I also notice how textures interact, how my eye is drawn to an unusual composition, a curved line. To paraphrase my favourite poet Mary Oliver: It's about paying attention, being astonished, and telling about it. In my case, the telling is with a paintbrush.

The object isn't to make art, it's to be in that wonderful state which makes art inevitable. (Robert Henri)
